Building a career with APM’s growing South Island team
Tasha Archibald has been an occupational therapist at APM for seven years – starting out as APM’s first allied health professional in the Timaru region of New Zealand’s South Island.
With a background working in acute psychiatry, both paediatric and adult, Tasha has also spent time in the UK working for the NHS and social services.
For Tasha, rehabilitation work at APM offers a variety of interesting vocational challenges and the chance to continue to grow her skills. She recently completed a 12-month secondment in a team leader role, leading a team of allied health practitioners delivering vocational return to work programmes and community rehabilitation services.
“I was also able to maintain my clinical hours during the secondment, because there’s always room for clinical growth. With the variety of the work we have at APM, and dealing with clients with such differing needs, there’s still so much learning to be had.”
Working part-time while raising a young family, Tasha is grateful that working for APM has allowed her to drive her own clinical journey. As APM grows, she’s been able to take on more hours when time has allowed and has the benefit of flexibility that supports a positive work life balance for her family.
“APM has grown significantly in New Zealand in recent years, and there’s been more and more opportunities to accommodate the growth we need as people and practitioners,” she said.
“I feel privileged to be part of that growth and what it can offer our clients.
“I also love working for a company with a purpose that is to quite literally make people’s lives better. ‘Enabling better lives’ is what I do every day as an occupational therapist and it’s so fulfilling to be guiding people on their injury journey, helping to make them independent again.
“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend APM to any allied health professionals – come and join us, we would love to have you on board!”
