Allied health professionals making an important difference in someone’s life

"What motivates me about my role as a physiotherapist, is the opportunity to help others."

Chris Boswell joined APM in 2014, when APM had recently entered the health and rehabilitation industry in New Zealand.

With extensive experience in private practice, occupational health and community rehabilitation he joined APM’s Allied Health team, supporting patients referred by the Accident Compensation Corporation.

"My days vary – which I enjoy. I could be working alongside concussion patients aiding their rehabilitation or helping people a musculoskeletal injury, getting them back to work, back to sport, caring for their family or just back to doing the things they love.

"I value my role and my engagement in the community as it truly provides a positive impact and makes a difference in people’s lives," he said.

Nurturing a passion for helping people

"I enjoy providing insight and education on how patients can structure their days to achieve the best outcomes."

Over the years, Chris has grown with APM, taking on several leadership roles.

Including supporting teams of allied health professionals and a secondment as a Regional Manager for the Auckland region.

Chris’ willingness to be flexible and adjust to achieve the goals of a growing business and demonstrated his leadership ability.

However, his real passion lies in the clinical aspect of physiotherapy.

He has now focused his role at a senior level in clinical practice providing occupational health, traumatic brain injury and multi-trauma rehabilitation for complex clients.

With these opportunities, Chris has also grown his technical knowledge and experience working alongside a team of allied health care providers at APM.

Working with patients who have experienced traumatic brain injury has opened a new world of interest for him.

Chris takes much satisfaction in supporting patients to understand and overcome their injury experience.

"There is a defined pathway and development program in order for our APM therapists to be qualified to work with patients with brain injury," he said.

"I am grateful that APM has an experienced clinical governance team, dedicated to ensuring that all our practitioners can continue to develop their skills.

"This enables our clients to be confident that they’ll receive the very best care," he added.
