Real stories from real people

At APM, we love to celebrate stories of the people we help to realise their ambitions and aspirations through sustainable employment, independence, better health and wellbeing, and increased social participation.

It’s a great feeling to work with people across the Australia and New Zealand to help enable better lives and be part of their life-changing moments.

Here’s a spotlight on some real stories, from real people, that highlight the work we do here at APM and the positive impact we can have.

Breaking out of long-term employment: Shannon

Like many job seekers living with injury, illness or disability, Shannon came up against several barriers to employment. He lives with Down Syndrome and had work experience, but hadn’t secured the opportunity he needed. APM Employment Services helped him to find a long-term role and he hasn’t looked back since!

Realising your potential: Dakota

After having kids, returning to the workforce was daunting for single mum Dakota. She just wanted to provide all she could for her kids but was worried she didn’t have the right skills or experience. Dakota worked with the ParentsNext program to realise her potential, get back out there, and help her on the right path for her family.

Small steps that make a difference: Shirley

Shirley has been receiving services from Lifecare Homecare through her Physiotherapist, Jarrad for over six years. They’ve built a strong relationship and work together to meet Shirley's goals. Lifecare is understands the importance of movement and offers a holistic range of services to support your unique challenges and opportunities so you can get the most out of life.

Creating a sense of belonging: Raz

Raz joined the St Mary’s cricket club in Busselton – a passion made possible through APM Communities – and has become much more confident and happy. APM Communities connects people with disability to community and mainstream services to help realise their goals and reach their potential.

We have so many stories like these from around the world to share. You can watch them here.
