NZ physiotherapist kicking both client and career goals
After four years working as a private practice physiotherapist, Laura Haime joined APM as a Concussion Therapist in New Zealand’s Health and Rehabilitation business. While Laura had a great deal of experience in neurological and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, APM offered additional training to enhance the skills required in her new role.
Laura demonstrated leadership and a willingness to grow at APM, and one year after joining the company, she was promoted to a Team Leader role. Along with continuing her own clinical work, she now looks after a team of six allied health specialists serving the South Auckland region.
“I love the opportunities available at APM, I’ve grown so much as a person, a leader and physio in my time here. There’s so much grown happening in our business, and it’s not slowing down either!
“Everyone has been really encouraging and willing to give supervision and coaching when I’ve needed it. Stepping in a leadership role was also a little daunting, but I’ve felt really supported and it’s a great feeling to be improving my skills in this area and able to help my team with their growth as well.”
Laura and her team focus on concussion management, pain and vocational therapy, with clients referred to APM either privately or by New Zealand’s Accident Compensation Corporation - ACC.
“We do important work for our clients, and I love seeing my team members achieve - they are so passionate about helping people achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Personally, there’s no better feeling that knowing your advice or rehabilitation program has made a real impact on someone’s life – some clients can be with us for up to a year and it’s really meaningful to be on that journey to wellness with them.”
