APM's Allied Health New Graduate Programme is a two-year, structured, clinical training programme designed to kickstart your career as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist. This programme allows you to work with a wide range of clients with a variety of clinical presentations.
Following your induction with the new graduate cohort, you will join APM therapists in the field to shadow assessments and follow up rehabilitation, with opportunities to complete referrals with support from your team. When you are ready, you will progress to working autonomously and build your caseload. Support and training are provided by your Team Leader, Clinical Advisors, and the wider team.

APM is an organisation dedicated to the excellent delivery of bi-cultural and diverse contextual interventions. Our Te Tai Tikanga Māori team provides strategic guidance from a governance level, and we offer further support through our Kaitakawaenga Tikanga (cultural advisor - Māori) and cultural panel. Through tailored cultural guidance and expertise from subject matter experts, you will develop the skills and experience to deliver culturally responsive services that optimise client independence and re-engagement with daily life.
APM offers two specialist pathways to those who have completed both their degree and internship:
In this programme, you will work in a multi-disciplinary team to support clients' recovery with a variety of mental health presentations. This includes working on specialist services such as pain, injury recovery, and mental injury assessment.
New Graduate Registered Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists and Educational Psychologists are welcome to apply for the Mātanga Tinana pathway.
This programme provides an opportunity to gain experience in assessing and rehabilitating mild, moderate, and severe traumatic brain injuries and other neurological conditions.
New Graduate Clinical Psychologists and New Graduate Clinical Neuropsychologists are welcome to apply for the Mātanga Hinengaro pathway. Consideration will be given to applicants with up to 4 years postgraduate experience.

Applications are limited to psychology graduates based in Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, Christchurch, Dunedin, Waikato and Whangarei. You must be a New Zealand Citizen/Resident living permanently in New Zealand to apply. APM do not fund university costs.
