Engaging Whānau Māori

Presented by: Cleo Hotereni

Cleo Hotereni has been the National Manager of Māori & Diversity at APM for the past four years. She holds a post-graduate degree in Mātauranga Māori (Māori world knowledge) from Te Wānanga o Raukawa, and is the current Chairperson of Whanake Rangitāne o Manawatū Iwi Trust.  

Cleo has extensive experience in delivering a range of successful Marae-based employment and hauora/health programmes for Ministry of Social Development, Te Aka Whai Ora, and Te Whatu Ora. Growing up surrounded by Rongoā Māori practices has profoundly shaped her understanding of the positive impact Rongoā Māori can have in achieving wellness for individuals and whānau.

Presented by: Paul Lagerman
Paul is a Physiotherapist and Clinical Advisor for pain management at APM.  He began his career in pain management in the National Health Service in the UK in 2008 before moving to New Zealand in 2013, where he has continued to deliver pain services in individual and group settings. His current role as Clinical Advisor for pain at APM includes mentoring and supervising staff, developing and streamlining, auditing and innovating the delivery of the pain management service. He collaborates with other clinical advisors to integrate a transdisciplinary approach to service delivery across APM New Zealand.

Presented by: Hannes Venter
Hannes is a Clinical and Neuropsychologist with 22 years' experience, having worked in both public and private health services. He has an interest in the intersection between mental health difficulties and brain injuries. He has extensive experience in the assessment of traumatic brain injury, as well as assessment and treatment of complex mental health presentations. He currently holds the Clinical Lead for psychology role at APM.

Presented by: Megan Bishop
Megan has spent over two decades working as a neuro-physiotherapist predominantly in traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia and completed a Master of Health Science (Rehabilitation) in 2015. She has published papers in concussion and stroke rehabilitation and is a guest manuscript reviewer for the New Zealand Journal of Physiotherapy. Megan is co-chair of the Neurology Special Interest Group (PNZ) and her current role as Clinical Advisor for APM enables her to integrate training, research, and quality management processes to optimise clinical practice and client outcomes.
