If you like variety and challenge and believe that with the right supports anyone can work, come join a professional, fun-loving team in delivering end-to-end employment services - from client sourcing, pre-employment preparation and addressing and finding solutions for barriers, through to job applications, brokering job placements, and in-work support (pastoral care).

It’s a job like no other!  Based in Wellington, you will work with a variety of job seekers, predominantly school leavers and also those with health conditions to support them in gaining sustainable employment and moving closer to independence.  Experience or understanding of the Mental Health and Disability sector would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the challenges the Post-Covid19 landscape presents from both jobseekers’ and employers’ perspectives. Travel within Wellington city, Porirua and Kapiti is required and a company vehicle will be provided.

You will need to be self-driven and comfortable working autonomously. Experience in employment services is not a ‘must’. Our employment consultants are selected from a wide range of careers -- including sales, social services, business development, government and industry.  Life skills, enthusiasm to help people, grit & resilience, and the ability to bring the best out of people are key attributes we look for.

This role is initially offered fixed term to end June 2022 with the potential for extension.

Your role is to:

  • Manage your own one on one jobseeker caseload and employer portfolio.

You possess:

  • Enthusiasm and determination to help people find work,
  • Capability in coaching and developing our clients to positively address work pathways.  You believe and embody a "work first approach"!
  • Ability to confidently generate leads from a "cold call" and turn them into employment - sales experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong networks within the community
  • A passionate, committed and ethical approach to placing people into work.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to identify and sell a person's strengths and abilities and find solutions "outside the square"
  • Resilient demeanour with a positive outlook – an absolute ‘must have’
  • Proven results in an individual and team target driven environment
  • Excellent time management and administration skills
  • Some ‘life experience’! This will give you the compassion, credibility, strength and wisdom to deal with challenges some of our longer-term unemployed clients.
